Become a Mentee, Mentor: Deadline Friday, Oct. 5

Students who wish to be mentored this year and faculty and staff who want to serve as mentors still have time to do so as the deadline has been pushed back to Friday, Oct. 5.

Applications are available at .

“Students who have mentors are not only building positive relationships and connections for the future, but we also know that students who participate are more successful and have the network to continue to be successful even after that mentor relationship ceases,” Stephen C. Rogers, coordinator of Programs for New Students, said.

As a mentee, students benefit from at least six conversations from their mentor throughout the duration of the fall 2012 and spring 2013 semesters. Topics covered range from learning about Collin College resources and goal setting to student experiences and leadership styles, among other things.

It is a great opportunity to affect the life of a student and help them be successful here at Collin College,” Rogers said about the importance of mentoring. “Our faculty and staff are the institution’s best commodity and by investing in our students as a mentor, you are improving the global society and the future success of Collin College.”

Mentor parings are based on mutual interests and areas of study and/or expertise.
