STETSON & STILETTO STANDOFF RAISES MONEY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS

Collin College’s Stetson & Stiletto Standoff is back again and patrons can saddle up to raise money for deserving students.

The fundraiser takes place at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Spring Creek Campus Library in Plano.

Through the challenging and fun game rounds, supporters can make an investment to impact lives and the community through scholarships. Last year alone, more than 28,000 students at Collin College applied for some form of financial aid.

Scholarships from donors help alleviate the financial burdens that so many Collin College students encounter on their educational journey,” said Amy Evans, director of the Collin College Foundation.  “An investment in education provides a meaningful return not only to our students but also to our community.”

Patrons will raise money by answering trivia questions highlighting the well-known, and sometimes obscure, facts and historical points from the great state of Texas and Collin County.

Teams will compete for the distinguished title of Stetson and Stiletto Champions with prizes for top teams. To improve the odds of winning, patrons can bid for help from Collin College professors lending their expertise through a lifeline auction.

Sponsorship levels include the $25,000 Lone Star Partner, $15,000 Alamo Partner, $10,000 Rio Grande Partner, $5,000 Yellow Rose Partner and $2,500 Silver Spur Partner. Individual tickets for Stetson & Stiletto are $125.

Scholarships created by this event will be awarded in sponsors’ names at the annual Collin College scholarship banquet in August. The Collin College Foundation accepts cash as well as gifts of stock and real property and provides donors with an avenue for planned giving and other long-term creative giving. The Foundation staff works with donors as well as financial advisors to ensure that their legacy lives on through their gifts to the Foundation.
